Library Policies

The following are the established policies of the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library.

Check-Out Guide

Patrons must have their library card in order to check out any items from the library; they are responsible for all items borrowed on this card. The computer automatically accumulates any late fines on your card and will mail or e-mail notices, if necessary.

Getting a Library Card

In order to register for a card, patrons over the age of 18 must show photo ID with current mailing address. Those under 18 must have a photo ID and a parent’s signature.

Renewals

All material checked-out from the Barnesville Library will automatically be renewed three times, but if an item is on hold for another patron this item can not be renewed.

No library material shall be withdrawn if the borrower has more than $5.00 of unpaid fines. A lost card cannot be replaced until all fines are paid.

DVD / Video Policy

Circulate for 1 week.  Patrons must be 18 or older to borrow videos/DVDs. You may have only 10 titles on your card at a time and may renew them twice.

Genealogy Books

Genealogy books may not leave the library.

Interlibrary Loan Service

Material requested in from other libraries in the SEO Consortium System via interlibrary loan is free, items requested outside of the system are subject to the charge of the postage.  These items maintain the same circulation policy as materials taken from the Barnesville Library. Items will be held for seven days after patron notification.

Teacher’s Cards

These cards are to be used only for school or home-schooling collections. Books circulate for one month with one renewal. No more than 4 holiday books may be taken at one time. Also, books on a single subject are limited.

Homebound

The Homebound program provides for any patrons unable to visit the library due to special needs. Books are delivered every two weeks by volunteers. Homebound materials circulate for one month with one renewal. The service area for the Homebound program includes the Barnesville Exempted Village School district. For more information, contact the library at 740-425-1651.

Damaged / Lost Material

Patrons are responsible for any materials they have checked out of the library. A replacement fee (library’s cost) will be charged for any damaged/lost material. However, a refund will be issued if the patron finds the materials within 30 days; receipt must be presented.
